mi tide 16ft flats boat

Still not sure whether to go bay boat or flats boat… looked at mi tide 16 ft flats a few days ago. Nice looking boat but not much info on it on-line. ■■■■■■■■ highly appreciated !!

I looked at them and determined that the Bulls Bay 1700 was more boat, better built, bigger motor, and more recognizable name for the same money there about. Got quoted $20k for the 1700, a Mercury 115 Pro XS, and really nice $2000k trailer. Add options were very reasonably priced as well.

Hi Geronimo. Thanks for the reply. Funny enough, the Bulls Bay 1700 is the boat (or I should say one of the boats) I am actually considering as well. Is the 10" draft realistic on that boat ?? I don’t need to go super shallow but want to stay under 12"

Cheers

I think the 10" was measured with a 70 Yamaha. Probably 12’ with a 90-115.

I have a 16’ Hightide Flats Edition and the MiTide should be the same mold. I love my boat for 2-3 man fishing in our creeks and marshes. It’s well laid out with big decks, walk around gunnels, and good storage. I love that the rear bench folds down to create more rear deck space. A grab bar sound the CC allows me to walk from the front to rear deck without ever touching the floor. The finishing touches like hatches, etc are functional but no frills. A fair amount of dead rise V cuts through chop well on open water crossings, but like any flats boat it will get you wet in a quartering sea. With a front under deck fuel cell, bow rise on hole shot is almost non existent. With 2 27 series batteries, a 90hp 2s, and my big butt in the stern my drafts about 10 in. Mine runs a little over 40mph at 5000rpms loaded with 2 people. Probably could use a smaller prop to max RPMs.
It’s so light that weight distribution and trim has a big effect on handling. It scared me once at high speed in following seas when the bow dug in and exhibited the dread chine walk but I’ve since learned to trim it out under those conditions.
Overall I’m very happy with the boat for my uses. If spending more time in open water I’d likely want the more work like standard 16V.
Thus is one of those boats that I see holding onto for a long time even if I had more boats to the fleet. Good luck with your purchase.
