MI, where are the fish???

I think they cleaned out the flounder last Saturday… Warm weather has redfish bite off too. Tried everything, live bait, fresh crab, cut mullet, artificials, you name it. Heading back to New Jersey in the morning, flounder opens today there.

Murrells inlet is hit or miss at best…You tried…:sunglasses:

I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it. I think I’m going fishing…!!

Things are on fire offshore right now! I just wish my wife would have my kid already, so i dont have to stay in cell phone range!

Here’s the deal. MI is an enigma. There are a few things you can depend on here. Such as if you drift enough mud minnows you will catch some flounders. If you use the right baits, at the right times, in the right places you can catch some redfish. There are usually black drum and sheep heads at the jetties. Trout are basically a winter time fish here for some reason. I have yet to figure that out. If you do get into them, chances are they will be big. You can get some nice boneheads in August at the jetties. MI has a schitpile of people on the water fishing. Very few know what they are doing and catch fish. This is certainly the place where 10 prct, catch 90 prct of the fish. My family house a house on the inlet, and I go to Winyah Bay when I wanna spend a whole day inshore.

We fished Saturday and Sun and had 2 flounder and 1 sheephead. It was terrible.

I’m gonna put a little water in my gas tank each week, leave my gps on 'til the battery is dead…then show up at the boat ramp in October…thats how you fish Murrells Inlet!!

I’m not a troller, I sit and drag or jig for flounder or dead stick for redfish. One thing I’ve noticed is good creek spots with mud bottoms that used to produce flounder now have more oysters. I guess that’s good for the ecosystem but not good for flounder fishing. Can someone tell me how to handle approaching a boat that is trolling in a small creek…up north we drift fish a lot but it’s mostly up and down fishing in a much wider channel. In all honesty I feel like a guest when I fish Murrells Inlet so I’m courteous as possible but…sometimes it makes me wonder:question:

The creek behind the house goes dry before low most days, and I can see evidence of flounder in there laying up, when they’re there. Haven’t seen the signs for days now.

I wish it was me but it’s not…he fishes near Wildwood, NJ. I fish a little north in Ocean City, NJ.
Things are on fire up here but this weekend it’ll be a parking lot inshore. Two weeks ago we were down there(Murrells Inlet) and the inshore fishing was basically non-existent- hope things have turned around for you inshore guys.

Sorry to hear that Doc…the only productive day I had there, they were keyed in on only this color gulp shrimp, I think it’s new penny, I had every other color on first…molting, white, glow, no hits. As soon as I switched to this color, three flatties in a row. I only kept one because he swallowed the jig and the other real shrimp in the photo was in his stomach.
