Miami first week Jan?

Whats going on inshore in Miami area first week of Jan? I am concerned its a tough time for tarpon / bonefish. Not looking to go catch redfish down there since we can do that here.

bonefish and permit should be around. No tarpon more than likely. Peacocks in the lagoons. EDIT. I looked up some other forums and the tarpon can be around in January off the beach. Check out Cyber Angler for last year. I guess it would depend on the water temp. Check in at the fly shop of miami. they were talking in the spring about catching tarpon deep in the ship channel with a fly rod.

Look up Bob Lemay on Cyberangler. He fishes Whitewater Bay during the days and the Biscayne Bay bridges for “baby” tarpon at night. It might be a little early for the night bridge thing, but email him and he will point you in the right direction.

Tarpon usually can be found in Government Cut during the winter and spring as well as off the beach. Good trout fishing in the bay. The finger channels south of Key Biscayne can produce some good bonefish if the weather is right. Snook can be found around the bridges at night but they are few and far between in the winter.

You can catch tarpon in the lagoons also. There is a guide that will take you to the airport lakes for them.
Lemay probably has them dialed in better than anyone on the ship channel, i.e. goverment cut.
Let me know if you need any bonefish spots down south.
Let us know how you do.
Great food and good fishing down there.
