Ive had people tell me that the middle grounds in the harbor is pretty good for some small shark fishing. Is there any truth to this? If so where exactly is it if im coming from wappoo landing and heading straight for fort sumter? Any advice for fishing it would also be helpful. thanks

Shark fishing around Castle Pinckney isn’t bad either.

Middle ground is my go to area for shark fishing. I wouldnt waste your time anchoring up to shark fish there, just drift the area with live bait on the bottom to cover ground and you will catch a lot more sharks this way. Any large live mullet, menhaden, croaker, bluefish, etc rigged on a carolina rig with a 3oz-4oz egg sinker on the bottom while drifting on any moving tide works great. You mostly will catch sharpnoses, but you will also get bonnett heads, blacktips, sandbar sharks, etc as well.

Thanks for the info. What area of the harbor is it exactly and what depth should I be looking for

I usually fish between the communications tower and the yellow buoy in the 18’-26’ depth also east of the communications tower in 18’ depth and 20’-23’ area behind pinckney between the communicatins tower an battery but honestly just about anywhere out there in the middle ground is good.
