Because I got a hook in all of them today. The trout bite was great for the high tide. The water was the clearest I’ve seen and in the low 60’s. Pretty sure I caught 35ish, but I lost count at 30. Some were small, but they still hit like a dang monster. And caught them all on artificial!
I’m going tommorow…might have to put 10 lbs of lead to get it to go in the right direction,…but if its not raining,. Im going…and The fish better beware! Lol

Catch you some 6 plus inch mullet and float them under a cork. You will still get some dinks but some of the really tiny ones wont bother with such a big bait.

I switched to artificial because I couldn’t find bait lately…without a little effort or getting cold/wet. I said I’d let artificials get me through winter since that’s suppose to be the time to use them. I never liked high tide(because it’s tough finding bait running) but I don’t mind if it’ll be like that. Several of them tried to eat the jighead and one tried to eat me at some point in there.
I tried trolling a little, but I couldn’t get setup right so zip on that.
You’ll just have to fight thru the little ones to get to the larger trouts in my experience.

Y’all don’t understand. I’ve been able to catch lots of trout (25 or 30 most days). And some days they are nice fish - 16". I want to know how to do that every trip.
I might would try bigger artificials. Not sure if DOA makes theirs any larger, but GULP makes a 3 inch shrimp. New penny always works this time of year. Do the larger trout travel with the smaller trout?? The largest trout I have ever caught was hanging around with some big reds!! Might be something for the experts to think about!!

I may try some experimenting…I’ll get back to you haha.
I AGREE,I PUT 5-6" MULLET OR 4-5" CROAKERS I’VE BEEN CATCHING AND THE LARGE TROUT JUST HAMMER IT.Smaller trout just bump it and let go.i’ve caught many trout on shore very far up a creek off wando, probably good mile from river, many trout with changing tides.usually do best 2 hours before low or 2 after but tried once at highest tide and caught 2 floating a cork. All hits right at grass line.Best by far is mullet, you can see the cork swim much faster just before the hit.Caught a couple nice stripers and occasional red same way…all live bait…
Pics of biggest I caught
Bigger bait will catch less but better quality. Throw a halographic shad w/ the paddle tail. Get further up the river and then into creeks, the big ones are moving inland. Trust me
