Might start kayak fishing. Got Questions

I am inteested in trying to fish from a Kayak. I am lokking at the Wilderness Tarpon 140 and 160. i also am considering the Hobie yak that you paddle with your feet. What do yall think?
Is the Hobie too far from tradition?
Also I like the Olive Camo color but should I get something more visible? I am a hobby photograper and plan to do shootong on the boat. I kinda like the stealthy look.

I have a 21’ Bay boat so is it stupid to buy a yak to fish from?

21’ Sea Pro Bay, Yellow
225 Mercury Verado
Named: Faith & Grace after my wife and daughter

f and g.i am lookin in the same direction man.funny you just posted this.i wade alot, but its a little crowded with snakes and gators for me.especially in the cooper.i was lookin at creekboats.com.real nice boat.they have different models as you will see when you look.my question about the kayaks was this:how do you stay dry in the winter with a yak?or can you?wetsuit?thats why i was leanin towards the creekboat.a yak would be perfect for my type of fishin, but i got way too many questions before i would buy one.let me know what you hear or come up with.thanks. surfman:question:

I’ve got a tarpon 140 and love it. Faith, what ever color you choose, it’s best for it not to blend in with the water and the landscape, you do want to be seen.
Surf, In the winter and spring I use breathable waders, started off with neoprene waders but around here they ended up being to hot for me.
Check out kayakfishingstuff.com. They have a forum that has input from all over the county.

Mud

thanks roc,i got awesome waders already.but in case of fallin over,i would want a better belt than i have.wouldnt want to fill up with water and sink:smiley:robdog keeps tellin me to get a yak because of the way i fish and places i like to go.it sounds like a good fit for me.im gonna keep askin questions as i think of them, and again thanks for the response.faith and grace, didnt mean to butt in on your thread, but im real interested in these yaks also.i know places i can go in one of those where there are lots of spottail and trout where you would never get a big boat.plus,im tired of wadin with gators and snakes.

Instead of waders, check out a set of waterproof-breathable paddling pants. They are made like a pair of rain pants, just with neoprene gaskets around the waist and ankles. Usually sell for around $80. Musch lighter than waders, and won’t fill up with water quite as easy if you were to take a swim.
