Tried a mess of products and none really worked.Do you know of one that will get rid of mildew on my boat seats.
Once it gets imbedded in the vinyl, it can be tough to get out and not damage the fabric. I have spayed on white vinegar, let it sit then brush and rinse with moderate success.

The best cleaner I have found so far is the Lysol Mildew Remover. It’s in a purple bottle and I believe I got it at Lowe’s. Works wonder on boat canvas. Just spray it on, let it soak for a few minutes, then rinse. No scrubbing required.

The best way is replacing the foam with a better foam (non moisture absorbing)and replacing the vinyl…
SAFMC you suck!
I’ve got a product we use for mold removal that I bet would work like a champ. pm me if you’d like to try it and I’ll grab a bottle from our storage facility. I’m on John’s island.
I got the 3M mildew remover from West Marine. I was shocked at how well it worked. It smelled like bleach, but I had tried regular bleach before that and it didn’t really work. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes.
If you want something “marine” targeted, Starbrite makes a good one. Otherwise tilex mildew remover works great, but may be a bit harsh on your materials
There is no magic potion to make this go away until you remove the cancer that is causing it,you may cover it up but it willieep coming back over and over again, cheap foam is not your friend

Jomax. Its an exterior house cleaner. It’ll work wonders on stuff like that. They sell it at lowes and home depot and wallyworld.

jomax is your best chance. if that doesn’t work, nothing will. once mildew is established in vinyl, it can be tough to entirely remove. Jomax can be a pretty harsh cleaner. I have used it on seats with varying levels of success from very clean to almost no difference. depends on the age of mildew and how bad it is.
How do the several above mentioned products react with the hardware "both SS and Alum " on the rest of the boat???
proper use of Jomax is a mixture with water and bleach.
Good for cleaning house. Not sure I would use on upholstery
Gut Wrench speaks the truth. You will not eliminate mildew from cheap foam and vinyl once in.

Should that foam (or any seat cushion foam) be wrapped in plastic inside of the vinyl? One of my old cushions I replaced was and it never had any mildew on the foam or the vinyl. I figured it was to help keep it dry for just such reasons.

Pk yes cheap foam needs to be wrapped, the good foam does not hold water so it can breath…and its firmer too…
Also that wrapping is a tricky way to suck the foam for easier installation…pretty cool to see…
