Mini-season 2011 report

Spent the week in Marathon with some good folks. Got into a few small dolphin on Monday, hit the West hump looking for BFT’s but no luck. Scouted Tuesday, and hit the bugs hard Wednesday and Thursday. Also shot a 21" red grouper. Had our 5 man limits by 8:30am each day. It was nice to be working off of a good book as it looked like all of the draggers were sucking water down their straws in the 15-20kt winds. Actually had one boat drag over our spot (the boat angled in; so no danger to our diver), and the last guy on the rope looks up and asks how we’re doing/said they hadn’t seen anything right as he’s getting pulled over our diver’s bubbles. Got a good lol from that.

Went to dinner Wednesday night @ the Island Fish Co. and thought I saw former Gov. Sanford walk by the table. About 10 minutes later I got a tap on the shoulder and he was asking if I was from Charleston. Guess he noticed my AGAT tee shirt. Talked to him for a little bit, nice guy, he said they got a 5 man limit on Wednesday.

We use to go every year until my daughter was born. She is just about to the age that we can start heading back. Great report really brings back the memories. Glad to know the Key deer are still alive! They sure love them things. Way more than the tourists that come to visit.

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!

Finally got around to doing a follow up video…
