Can it not be converted over to i-Pilot? I converted my copilot/autopilot over last year to i-Pilot.

No this one is a year too old to be converted. I did find a way to possibly convert the older powerdrive to ipilot, but you have to first convert it to a powerdrive v2 by changing the boards out and then buy the ipilot kit to make it a ipilot. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Ok guys for those of you that were wondering it can be done. Looks like the cost is about 500(depending on where you get them) for parts(ipilotkit and v2 main board). I am still gonna sell my copilot but this is a option if your board or compass goes out in a old powerdrive.
Converting non V2 PowerDrive to use I Pilot
I was excited to find references to converting older Power Drives to accept the I pilot. You have to buy a V2 main control board for either 12 or 24V and Auto Pilot or non Auto Pilot depending on what you have. This control board for the V2 has the round connector that hooks up to the I pilot. Of course you will have to buy the I pilot.
This will only work on the ones from 2001-2007. Model numbers start with: MKAB, MKAC, MKAD, MKAE, MKAF, MKAG, and MKAG.
In my case I had a malfunctioning Auto Pilot and was going to buy a new compass board but with the I pilot the old compass board is removed so I didn’t have to buy it. That’s what really sold me on doing this project.
If you are going to do this I suggest you go to www.minkota.com(it’s also on Utube) and watch the video of how to install the I Pilot as it shows how to get to the main control board. Once in there you disconnect all wires going to the board. You really can’t goof it up as all the wires(except for the motor and battery wiwres) are color coded.
Attacked are some photos of what I did. I decided to drill out the brass boss. There maybe other ways to get it out but it has to come out. Once out the new board slips right in. I did put some blue loctite on the two side screws that hold in the board. Reconnect all the wires(except the black and white ones).
I had one little problem as the wiring diagram that came with my V2 board showed the battery terminals and motor terminals in a different configuration than on the board. I searched the Internet for wiring diagrams and found the one that matched my board so I knew where the motor and battery wires were to go.
