Minn Kota Question

Does anyone have a Riptide 70 lb thrust motor, 24volt? Im thinking about getting one but not sure if it will have enough force for my boat. Think it will, but would love some backup before I spend the cash. I have a 19’6" Key West Bay Reef. Thanks for any info you can provide me.

It will probably struggle a little in a strong current. I have the st 80 and it pulls my boat around no problems. It would just outdo the current when it was really ripping in St Helenaa few weeks ago.

I have the 80lb Riptide and would not go any less on my boat. I think you will be a little disappointed if you go with the 70lb. Just my opinion though.

My new 80lb Minn kota barely outpulls a good tide. 17’ Carolina skiff. You’re going to need 80 or better.

I have a 101 lb thrust on my 21 and you could ski behind it! Definitely cant over power it.

I have the 101 Minn Kota. Can pull hard in wind and current. must power you can afford…

Have RT80 on 21’ skiff. Same weight as yours but probably less hull in the water. Glad we didn’t get the 70.

80 is the very minimum I would go and ,if you have the ability, a 36 volt system is a good bet. Youll never have to worry about trolling battery or power with a 36.
