I’ve got a bow mounted riptide 55 that’s on its last legs. Can I buy the transom mounted version, remove the transom mount bracket and put it in my current bow mounted bracket?
It appears that the head/shaft and foot are the same and the only difference is the mounting bracket (and about $100-$200). I’d have to rotate the steering head 180*, but I don’t think that’s going to be a big deal.
Not sure about the mounting bracket, but I rotated the head unit on a 55# minnkota so I could use it on the bow, no problem at all. I even called MK beforehand and the tech said “People do it all the time”.
Call their tech dept, they were helpful when I called them. Good luck.

Thanks guys. The only draw back I found is that they don’t make a 52" shaft transom mount. 42" is the longest.
I’ll let you know what I find out.
You may have to disconnect some wires to change the bracket so you can change the shaft as well.
