Minn Kota ST80 or SP70? (and a small hurdle)

Trying to figure out what trolling motor to put on my 1900CC. Looking at the Minn Kota Riptide ST80 54" and the SP70 54". The difference is 10 lbs and $250. If I go with the SP70, that $250 can get me the two batteries and maybe even a charger. But everyone always says you won’t regret getting more power.

Oh and in both cases I’d be getting the iPilot.

Of course in either case I’m going to need to do something about this rail:

It would appear the wife would like to keep the rail. So then I saw this (brought to my attention on a key west forum):

Thoughts?

I have the ST80 on my boat and I wouldn’t have even thought about anything less. It does just fine, but in a strong current it will still have a hard time making headway. Get the 80, you won’t regret it.

Are there really any features different between the ST and SP besides the power?

I’d really like to know the difference between the stow and deploy lever on the ST and the deploy assist lever on the SP.
