I have been catching these large minnows/baby fish in my usual mud minnow hole the last couple months, fat little things a bit larger than a mud minnow seem to have a blue/dark blue and brown color to them. Off a creek from the Folly River. Any ideas what they are, are they as good as mud minnows for bait?
thank ya, sir… but i don’t ever see myself arguing over a BSB/sleeper/minnow/baitfish with the likes of you- or anyone else who frequents this website for the wealth of information and constructive discussion it offers.
That’s why I know better than to argue with you about that sort of thing. You know a lot more about it than I do, and you have taught me some things over the years. Appreciate it
If I would guess, the one in your bottom picture would have been my guess for some type of bass (BSB) based on the size of the eye. The fish in the top photo has a much smaller eye, almost in-proportionate to the size of it’s head.
But honestly it would have only been a guess.

oh brother.
can I interesting you in a few hours of pointless reading over in the off topic section?
you know there’s thread over there with 19,000 hits!
Does look like the goby picture, was thinking a baby sea bass though since it feeds directly into the Folly River. Dont think I’ll be using these things as bait though.
