Put in at paradise this weekend. Fished a few hours and when I got back to the landing I removed the peddle drive and a fin was missing. I took it out before I got into the shallow water and paddled the rest of the way in so I know I never bottomed out. Not sure when it came off. Wondering if this had ever happened to anyone before and any insight on what have caused it. Btw if anyone finds an extra fin in the upper wando let me know.
It sounds like the split ring that holds the pin in place broke. I have seen/had this happen a couple of times. Normally the split ring was damaged from me changing out or adjusting the fins. I imagine it could have been damaged during transport or failed from fatigue if it is an older drive. Sorry about your luck.
Is the clevis pin still there? If it is, the rubber hole must have split on the fin. Don’t worry if you find it, it’s no good now!
The good news is we have them at Time Out for $20 on the standard fin (normally $28).

Thanks for the info. im going to show my ignorance but what is the clevis pin and split ring? The long rod that is on the front side of the pin is still there and the the threaded rod that screws into the fin is still there as well. looks like the fin just came off. …i guess. It is an older drive. Recently picked up a used rig and havent had much experience with this system.

There is a small (maybe 1/4" diameter, 3/4" long) stainless pin that holds the top of the fin in place, opposite the long stainless Rod (“Mast”). It is flared out on one end to keep from pulling through, and then has a hole for a key ring type of keeper on the other side. If this is in place, the only way for the fin to come off is for the pin to rip through the rubber fin itself.

First page, bottom right fourth. Look at the “Lock Ring” and “Clevis Pin”. We have all the parts here (Time Out in Mt. P) for the drives. Bring it in, we can get it right for you.

Thanks DD I had ordered a replacement fin on line but have a feeling ill be missing some parts. I’ll swing by and get what I need to complete the repairs. Didn’t think of checking with your store first. Thanks again.
Thanks guys. I have this same drive and sure enough my pin is in place, but the key ring has broken off. So it was a matter of time before I would lose the pin and also fin. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
