Yes, Adam, the wahoo was great! Thanks again for your service! You need to get back over here in time to slay the dolphin!!

lynnmcd - Is your Key West a 20’? If so, how often do you take it out that far? I’m still trying to find the stones to take my 23’ past the Chas. 60.

Yes, it is only 20’. I have been blessed and lucky by having taking many trips on the big pond with no troubles. I’m no pro by any stretch, but do not head out unless you are comfortable with, and understand the risks!! I have been over 70 miles past the rocks several times and to the ledge countless times in my little boat. There are a lot of people that take 23’ boats out there. If I could afford a bigger boat with multiple engines, I would have one. But, I love going out there, and I will continue to take the “Miss Amanda” out there as long as the Good Lord allows me to. You just have to use your head and pay close attention to the weather! I keep my yamaha pretty well maintained also, but I know it will probably let me down sooner or later. I have over 1600 hours on it now. Maybe in the spring, when the dolphin bite is hot, we can buddy boat.
I am, in no way, saying that it is ok, or a great idea, for anyone/everyone to take a 20’ boat to the ledge and beyond…

Nice job Lynn. Looks like it was flatter up north, we had a bit of chop down south. You got riggers on Miss Amanda? Way better than working for sure.
Thanks
It was very flat.
Yes, I have 16’ outriggers that are mounted on the gunnels forward of the console. I wish I had a set mounted on the t-top. I also wish that I had said t-top…[:0]

lynnmcd- Thanks for all the info. I think you must really know what you are doing to have been that successfull and safe all those trips. I would love the opportunity to buddy boat with you at some point. I’m about to install radar and Sirius weather on my boat and I’m also accquiring extra safety equipment. I’ll PM you with some more information when I’m a little closer to being ready and maybe we can get a date lined up. Thanks again for your help.

Well, I trust the Good Lord will take care of me and only ask for His will, in all things. As far as extra safety stuff, you can’t ever have too much. I try to have as much as I can fit in my little boat. I could probably add a few more items, and I am sure I will, as I am getting more stuff here and there. I look forward to meeting you and catching some fish!!
