Miss Amanda - 5/11

Had the pleasure of joining Lynnmcd and Long Enuff yesterday on the Miss Amanda for a bottom fishing excursion to the south-west banks

Met the fellas at shem creek @ 3:30 and headed out on a fairly flat ocean. Kicked back in a beanbag as we made great time out to the bait spot. For whatever reason bait was finniky maybe do to the seamonster we saw crusin around … (cobia maybe… it was massive though)

Called it and headed out to the spot. Slow going on the drifts until Long Enuff got us a a couple nice triggers on a drop. We ended up grinding it out and boxing a total of 3 scamps (thanks to Lynn :stuck_out_tongue:), our limit of pinkies, and mess of joltheads, and a couple more triggers. Did battle with a few AJ’s and broke off a couple of unknown monsters that remain a mystery

Sea was getting a bit angry so headed in with a bit of a bumpy ride. Made it back to Shem Creek just in time to watch some shannangins at the boat landing. Funny stuff there. All in all a fun and safe day with a couple of great guys. Can’t wait to do it again.

Enjoyed some fresh grouper for dinner. Life is good :sunglasses:

Glad you guys had a great day. I’m also glad to hear the Miss Amanda made it out and back with no issues. A day with Trigga’s and Grouper is always a good day!!

I enjoyed it as well, especially the ride back in!

Glad to see the Miss Amanda and crew are back! Look forward to being on board, soon, very, very soon!

Yep, I feel we had a great time, even though the seas were a bit rough and our bring home totals were not that great.
We caught plenty of groupers, but they were either a “no no” species or just a tad too small! I just knew we were going to have a great trigger day when Bill pulled up double triggers shortly after stopping. Wrong!! :face_with_head_bandage: ha
That’s fishing, though! We’ll get ‘em next time, or the next time!:wink:
After we threw the hook out, catching did get a little better. The live bait rod caught a couple nice fish. It also caught a 4-5’ shark. Of course, what bottom bumpin’ day would be complete without catching a couple of fighting AJs! We also managed to gaff and release a couple of lionfish!:slightly_smiling_face:
I can’t wait to get back out there, on a smoother, more productive day!!

I enjoyed the ride back in, also. At least the hour or so that I was taking a nap while Bill was at the helm!

Andy, we will get out there soooooon!!

Adam, I think that Hanckel got the Miss Amanda straightened out this time!!
