Had a great day on the ocean with the Miss Amanda and crew. Too tired to tell the story …I’ll let the captain post that. Did have to post a pic of the day maker though. We guestimate 40 - 50. Congrats LYNN! It was an awesome experience to cooler this fish in a 20ft CC. Thanks again buddy.

We had another great day on the Miss Amanda! We didn’t slay ‘em, but we had a great time filled with some laughs, some spray:smiley: and even a few fish. We managed only to get a few drops of rain the whole day. We had to hurry around a nasty storm first thing as we got out of the jetties. The seas were a little nasty, but we still made good time with very little air time. We started in around 130’ and had a phin in the box pretty quick along with one of three cudas shortly after that. Our original plan was to head to the same area that has been productive the last two weeks, but we had a free Roff’s report and decided to follow their favorable areas suggestions. Well, we did catch a couple in those areas, but we decided to head back to the productive areas, which are within a few miles of the Edisto banks. We got to those spots and started to have many knockdowns pretty quick. We ended up catching the rest of our fish right there where we should have started to begin with. :face_with_head_bandage: We ended up with 11 phins. Most of them were solid gaffers with a couple we decided to sling in. I misplaced my scale, so I do not the weight of my big bull, but who cares. It was a nice addition to the box. Jazzed drove the boat great, and my friend Heath, who had never gaffed a phin before, stuck him right under the gills and got him in the boat perfectly! The whole day went great due to awesome teamwork. My friend Brad has become a great rigger, and everyone kept lines clear, rigs checked and the wheat sodas from getting wasted or hot. We also had a decent sail on that decided to run into another line’s wire leader and get gone. But, before he went to the deep, he gave us a long and great show with my lure dangling. I was hoping to get a pic of Jazzed and his first sail, but I’ll have to wait for that.
The ride in wasn’t too bad until the seas shifted when we were about 20 miles from the rocks. I can’t wait until the next trip! Jazzed only gets to go fishing a handful of times a year, so I am glad that we ca

We weighed the Bull and he was 45. I also couldnt resist telling that Lynn had also caught this when we got home.

Now how many people you know that catch a 45lbs bull and a coon in the same day

Lynn, great fish, sorry we turned around on you, but I could tell the way my crew was looking at me that it was time to turn back and wait a bit. We did our part by keeping as many cuda’s busy as possible so others could focus on the fins and such. We ended up having a great day on the water, even after waiting awhile a heading out on our own.

Nice job there guys. Geesh Lynn, if that’s how happy you are holding a 45 lb. phin, I wonder how much of a smile you’ll have when you land that 90 lb. hoo!!! Just kidding man. Great job guys, and glad you all made it out and back safe and sound.

Just trying to learn every bit I can about saltwater fishing…

Posting on a message board all the time doesn’t make you smart. Frankly, it just means you probably need to get a life.

That fush gonna taste real good! Excellent catch!

According to my unit, we were in 81.5° - 82.3° water and between 250’ - 300’. We mainly fished near the E banks.

David, we were pretty lucky! You did the smart, safe thing with the crew you had on board. We released 3 cudas, and that was enough! If they would have been a little smaller, we would have kept them for the table. Not bad eating at all and easy to clean.

Thanks Russ, we sure had fun. Now, if this wx gets straight, we’ll get back out there. Looks like the “mosquito fleet” will have a few days off…
