"Miss Amanda" 7/15/09 (late report)

Jazzed, another friend and I decided to go and troll at least one more time for some gold. Well, we found plenty of snakes! We did bring home a couple decent fish, though we lost a couple more close. We had a great time out there regardless of the fish. It was nice in the morning. We were able to troll around with our beverages sitting on the gunwales. That changed rather quickly. We saw a funnel forming and then touch down on the water. Pretty neat sight. It did not last long though. I wish we would have taken more pics, especially when it was throwing the water all over.

Here is a pic of my friend holding his decent cow, no monster, but nice.

If you look close, you can see a boat under the funnel to the left. That would be something to see from that close, especially when it was completely formed…

Glad you had a safe trip. I’ve been rafting in the mountains and all the whitewater has me itching to go again.

A butthole puckerer for sure! 40 miles, water-spout, under 100’ boat don’t mix too well. You got some balls sir, yes you do b/c I would have ran to the hill!

Sells and I had one form several hundred feet off our bow coming back into the jetties last September in my 20’ boat. Pucker factor is an understatement.

Thanks again Lynn.
It appeared that the spout did touch down several times near the boat on the horizon. Im not good with distance (dont know how far away it was) but I had my eye on it. Intense … but not as much as …
One time back in the 70s on the Pamlico Sound in NC. My father, uncle, and I were fishing when a beautiful day turned to sheet. One of those start praying now everybody. Saw a huge spout come down and pick up parking lots of water. My dad said head for land. My uncle said where and he said the closest.
Thank God we survived it. Just outa nowhere BAM. I am also greatful to have survived all of Lynns trips : ) The man really is a fishaholic yall. At this time last year I had never caught or even been associated with a dolphin, sailfish, king, cuda, etc.
Thank ya buddy. Hope all is well.
May we all have safe trips.

Well, it was there and gone in no time.
I don’t think that I have any more balls than anyone else, I just love to fish and the storm was far off anyway. We do our best to stear clear as much as possible. I wasn’t puckering or worried a bit, I just kept an eye on the storm. Anything can and will go wrong out there. Mother Nature is in charge out there no matter what size vessel you are in…

You are welcome!! I am glad to get you out there and catch something, especially with your schedule!!
Of course, you ā€œsurvivedā€ the trips on the ā€œMiss Amandaā€! What’s that all about?:wink:
At least I finally got tabs on the boat. It might be a little wetter at times, but it doesn’t launch on every little swell like before…
