My good friend Long Enuff and I decided to troll around and see if we could get lucky. I really wanted for Long Enuff to catch his first sail. We fished mainly straight out between 180’ and 200’. It was a beautiful day on the water and we were hoping for a little excitement. We did not see a single cuda or king, however, we did have a few cutoffs. After an hour or two, we brought in a bull dolphin. We were real happy for that, no skunk and a meat fish! A little while later, both the outrigger lines took off, then the way back line with a cheap bubbler on it took off. LE grabbed the port outrigger rod and I grabbed the way back. The third fish got off, so we never saw what it was. Our two lines were pretty close together as we were trying to clear the other 5 lines. After fighting the fish for a while and trying to separate them, one of them decides to show itself by a little tail walk and then a nice flip. It was a sail, although at this point, we were not quite sure who had what. The lines got real close and I could feel them actually get together. After that they took off away from one another and the sail did a little more tail walking and such. At this time I was real happy because I knew that LE had the sail. I just held my fish where it was without trying to gain too much so we could try to get the sail. Well, it wasn’t meant to be as far as landing the sail. It got real close to the boat before coming up one last time to shake his head and show his stuff before saying goodbye. It was still an awesome sight and we didn’t have to worry about taking that illegal photo before the release. It turned out that we released the right one. I continued to fight my fish and got it about 100’ or so behind the boat when it looked straight at us. All I could see was its mouth. I told LE that we either have a king or a hoo. Well, it darted off to the side and then we saw the stripes. I stepped it up a bit and got it to the boat and in the box.:slightly_smiling_face: After a while after that we saw a few small do

Glad to see your still at it. Congrats on another productive and safe trip!

Good job Lynn. I want to get a sail on the fly!

It was a great day, always a pleasure to hitch a ride with Lynn. Although it would have have been nice with 7 rods out, three fish on, and only the two of us in the boat, to have had Jazzed on board manning the helm. Like he reminded us, then we wouldn’t have lost any fish!!!

Long Enuff

I would have loved to have been there. At least you got your first sail on and came home with meat! Look at picture five…how can you lose with buddies like that? Glad yall had a safe trip.

Nice job Lynn. Can’t wait to get back out there.

Good report Lynn I enjoyed the read. Nice job guys

Thats great lynn, maybe i’m fishing the wrong boat hehehe.
I went sunday and enjoyed the flattest ocean ever. I wish you guys would let some of those fish come north  I ran out to GT hole and it was a desert not even another boat there moved south for awhile met Two dawgs coming north they had nothing from that direction . Umm a skunk was looking like a possibility. Turned out looking for something and found a weed line towards bubble rock in deep water. score one good dolphin and saw a few other babys. Worked the weeds for awhile longer but nothing. Decided to come in and drop , first time down my son is hawlin on what he thought was bottom , nice 15 lbs grouper. We caught several smaller throw backs and managed a bunch of keeper porgy for the table as well. We ran back on the slick ocean pushing 35knts with my feet up. Nice day to be out there.
