Mitzi Skiffs

Anyone out there ever heard of Mtizi skiffs and if you have what do you think of them…Looking to get really shallow and i think that boat will do it…

look for a used beavertail. you will not be disappointed. The mitzi’s that i have seen are not well rigged and no frills.
they seem to be a bit heavy also.

Have had a Mitzi…they are under new ownership these days.
If you want a no frills, bare bones skiff then consider the Mitzi.
However, my opinion is get the East Cape!

Heavy?!? I can’t say I’ve ever seen a heavy one. Mitzi’s are great! They are built without frills to keep the PRICE without frills…The other boats are awesome, but they’re prices suck! BTW, I’ve seen Capt. Ed Humphries pole his old Mitzi in what looked like 4" of water with no problems.

Some of the best fishing ever done, was done without water, using only the printed word. --Unknown

Thanks for the help guys…I think you might of swayed me in another direction…What is the prices for a lostman…I know a 17 Mitzi is about 17,000…

Don’t know who said they were heavy boats!
I did enjoy my Mitzi but today would spend a little more cash and get a lot more boat!

Now there’s a good reason to buy a boat.

Do yourself a favor and check out the Copperhead made by Ankona Boats. No frills and great performance. Poles in 5 inches. Perfect for redfishing.

Heck, they are all cool.
30 mph with 25 ponies? That copperhead is nice. Only 350 lbs too. You could tow it with a vespa!

Copperhead with motor less than 500 lbs. Drafts less than 6 inches with two guys. Runs in any water where you can get the motor down. Retail with 25 hp tiller less than $10K.

I recently purchased a Beavertail B2 and love it. My last flats boat, a Pro Sports 16FF, had a center console and it was always in the way. My Beavertail has a side console and it is the only way to have a small flats boat.

I was not much of a believer in the quiet, no slap, hull designs until I owned one. My old boat had chines that would slap the water. The Beavertail is round and the chines are above and below the waterline when the boat is not running. This really has made a difference when I have been in close quarters with reds.

Beavertail got in trouble for copying the Hells Bay Waterman hull and no longer makes the B2, Osprey or BTX. This means there are bargains to be had in the used market. Good luck with your search and take your time to find the right boat.

I think i finally decided…I’m going with the ECC Lostmen. Those boats are awesome and they custom build them to what you fish and need…I am going to fish with a guide in the Orlando area in Dec. Named Capt.Lemmon and he has a Lostmen i think fishing on it willl help decide…Thanks for all the help…

Those Lostmen are really slick boats. I’m envious:slightly_smiling_face:
Good luck with it!

Nate is a great guy in Fl. congrats on deciding ECC. when i was shopping and spoke to them, it was exactly what i needed/wanted from the types of people i like to do biz with

I talked to the guys at ECC today man they can get you pretty pumped up about there boats…I have a question how long was the wait after you ordered yours. Man they are some nasty sick boats cant wait to get mine…Now i have to deciede what features to put on it…

my wait was 5-6 months but i had the longest wait to date. even though i chewed my nails until they oozed blood, id do it again, 2x over. i am in awe almost 2 ys later…

Look for an older Maverick… there are a couple of sweet deals on their website.

I fished from Scotty’s boat on multiple occasions and it is a sick ride fo sho! Poles like a stick of butter on a hot pan-even with a stiff wind.
