As you can see a crossbeam on my rather new trailer has cracked all the way though. Manufacturer says its needs to be ground down, re-welded and add some reinforcement plates. The boat lives on the trailer so I would prefer someone that is mobile to come to the ramp and make the repair with the boat off the trailer.
Please let me know who can make these types of repairs in Charleston
My suggestion is to slip the boat for a few hours and take the trailer to Marc at Carolina Custom Rigging. Sorry don’t have his number on me right now, but I’m sure someone else here does.
He is in Mt. Pleasant and won’t be but a few minutes from Shem or Remleys.
Boy you are good. Its an Ameratrail and I have had nothing but problems with the thing. Marc has already done some welding on it. But its a pain because I have to get a dock, get it to Marc then pull it and its a 2-3 day ordeal plus I have to take time off work. I know I am just complaining. I should not have to do this on a new trailer.
I was just looking for something easier. I may just take it back to Ameratrail in Orlando.

Good info. Seems the folks down there (or in Sarasota) would help you out with what sounds like a lemon. Have not heard of issues like what I see in your pic with this brand. Hope it’s an isolated incident and they make it right for you.
No way you’ve put the abuse on it that it ought to take to do that if those trailers are designed and rated for your boat or heavier. Maybe something wasn’t set up properly and weight isn’t distributed correctly??? I’m sure you’ve already thought of that.
I have been in contact with the owner of Ameratrail a number of times and yes they have stepped up and paid to fix the issues. But I still have to get them fixed on my own. There have been a lot of issues mostly with brakes and bearings. All have been replaced with new systems. Time will tell.
