Modified Cast net's For Shrimp

</font id=“size4”></font id=“size5”>O.K here is the question? There is a lot of different opinions on the legality of cast-net modification.
Is it legal to duct-Tape the bottom of your cast net to help it stay open on the way down to the bottom? People have told me both answers. Some say they will fine your butt if they catch you. I have not tried to bait shrimp yet. I might try this year if I can find a willing teacher it the Beaufort area. but meanwhile I want to find the fuzz on my depth finder and catch them deep. Doing this requires an extension on my net rope and a way to keep the net open longer. I have a call into the SCDNR they should let me know. Just wondering what you have heard.

Perfectly legal to tape a 1/2" or better mesh net for shrimp. Most use it for deep holing after bait season goes out. Just helps keep net spread open in deep water. A heavier weighted net is best.

You will love it! Great fun and good eats!!!

$140 and up for 1/2 inch mesh with tape but it is worth it.
