How are we coming in the big picture?

What is the first day you plan on taking me fishing?

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!

Well you turned down every invitation to fish on my last boat, so that’s kinda hard to say Scoutin…

:face_with_head_bandage:

Would you like to go fishing in June?

:sunglasses:

Is his guy related to you? NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. A Southern California man who’s been restoring a 72-foot antique boat in his yard has been ordered to move the vessel.

The Los Angeles Times reports a judge issued a preliminary injunction last week saying 65-year-old Dennis Holland must move the boat before a trial to determine its long-term fate begins April 30.

Holland may face fines of $1,000 a day if he doesn’t move it, which he tells the Times ( http://lat.ms/wHGuhS) is impossible at this stage.

He has been restoring the 1916 ketch called the Shawnee in his Newport Beach yard since 2006 and had a permit to do it, but it expired last year when he refused to give a completion date.

The City Council then voted to pursue legal action.

The government has shut my winter fishing down, so if they shut this down I guess I’ll have to take up golf or something.

I have been sick, so nothing has happened much.

I designed the new fuel tank and am ordering it today. It will hold approximately 115 gallons.

Russell got the back end cut like I want. I’m liking it.

Got some goodies in for later.

I forgot… I also ordered my fuel tank.
Will be 115 gallons, and we’ve come up with a design that will allow it to be pulled from under the deck without removing the console and T top. Plan to bond the console to the stringers and deck permanently. Fuel tank will get interlux primer and interprotect coating. If it lasts another 34 years like the originals I’ll be happy.

I just restored one of those old Mako’s a few years ago. I did the body and paint. I don’t do engine work, so the customer put on his own engine. Let me know if you need her painted.
Happy boating!

Nice work Phin!

Looks like you have quite a long way to go but doing it right as you are will pay off. With out cutting some MAJOR corners I don’t see anyway you will have this boat where you want it by winter of this year.

That being said, you are welcome anytime on the All Rise this year. Just let me know. You can tag along with us or I will even run some trips with you and your crew if you need.

Let me know Man!!

Phin, I’m enjoying this thread, but, its looking like its becoming a monumental task. Any regrets?

I hope I can get on a trip or two with y’all Scott. Everything is on schedule here still. With help it should stay that way. Folks who have helped me a bit so far will definitely be on the top of my list for fishing crew.
Optiker, no regrets. I really like the boat. It’s easy for me to work on it. I haven’t left it after a day or night of working on it yet with any sort of negative feelings. It is a lot more work than most people realize. Scoutin is being realistic, but I always aim high so even if I miss a little, the result will still be pretty high. The thing he doesn’t realize is how much patience it takes to work on this boat for 10 or 12 hours and then walk away from it for a week before coming back. I cannot take dragging it out past June!

Very cool thread/project Phin. Impressed!

By the way, son & I got letter from RFA today about some possible amendments to some of the fishery laws. Hope things are going to turn in the right direction. long way to go.

Definitly a labor of love!

I hear ya. Its a labor of love for sure. There are not many things I enjoy more than tinkering around on the boat. Once I decide to refurbish my Whaler it will be a project of monumental proportions like you are in. But it will just make it all the more rewarding when its done  Keep up the good work.
