What is the best way to remove mold from lifejackets? I have 3 inflatables that can’t go through the wash and 1 infant with foam that have a large amount of mold on them.
i would call the manufacturer and ask them
1/2 simple green and 1/2 bleach
50/50 bleach and water.
“Plan like you will live forever but live like you will die tomorrow.”
Don’t use a lot of bleach, it can destroy the fabric and stitching. Use a diluted bleach solution. I wouldn’t used any more than a 10:1 mix with some detergent or simple green mixed in to give it some suds. Scrub the mildew with with a soft brush.

The best thing is to know is what causes mold and prevent it. Cleaning it off conventional jackets almost always causes deterioration to the fabric. As far as the inflatables; you are probably safe with products mentioned or others like XK-14 bathroom cleaner. Then triple rinse. Always make sure your jackets are completely dry when stored in closed compartments and do not store in compartments that are always humid and damp or those that leak when it rains. And remember; if you can pull on the fabric and cause separation, the jacket is no longer legal for use and is a CG and DNR fine in the waiting.
