Guess they are gone?
Yes, they are gone. I have a buddy in the business is taking over their inventory. This economy has been hard on the marine industry. The interactions I had with them over the years were very good, I think that was mostly because of the salesman I delt with. ![]()
If you can’t fix it with a hammer, you’ve got an electrical problem.

locally cape romain marine up 17N…they were actually the first pioneer dealer as well.
Charleston Boating Center (Old Outboard Shop) also seems to have closed its doors on River Avenue.
Also whats up with the new Hanckle Marine mansion on Daniel Island. They are down to just a couple boats.
fishman, alot of manufacturers have furlowed(sp?) workers this summer/fall and are slow to ramp productions backup due to our current economic status. Many builders are waiting to see what boat orders are going to look like…being that alot of dealers are sitting on old inventory. I know I’m ready to see some new fiberglass hit the lot! Our company has done ok with moving product and we aren’t sitting on to much old inventory. Its tuff times in the marine market. I wonder how many more dealers will go down?
“The Unsinkable Legend”
yes, charleston boat center has closed. we have a bunch of their parts inventory, as well as an etec115 if anyone needs an etec.
I think alot of the reduced inventory you are seeing is due to the floor plan being much more difficult to get, as well as the owners not want to be spread to thin going into winter. I know we definately reduce our inventory going into winter.
I’m now at www.teamcharlestonmarine.com
Yes, Moncks Corner Marine is closed. Health issues of the owner, and the economy did’nt help either. We have opened up a new shop three miles down the road. No association to MCM other than some past employees and have purchased most of the parts inventory. We hated to see MCM go, we had some good times, and made alot of friends and a few enemys, but it was fun.
Starting over now, on a much smaller scale. Some of the same great lines are going with us, but we are undecided. We have three factory certified techs for Yamaha, Mercury, Evinrude, Suzuki and Honda.

somebody needs to pick up Triton Saltwater. I know they’re looking for coverage in this area. The Rep for this region claims he’s going to have one here in the next 6 months or so. May as well be you.
there ain’t no shame in passin’ the rod
We are still undecided and looking for the best products for the money. As much as I hate to admit it, it’s really not a good market for “NEW” boat sales. The market is flooded with repo’s from dealers that have closed, and still hurting dealers in business, same boats for 60 to 70% off of dealer invoice…ect.

Good luck - nice map on your website! ![]()

amen to that. I don’t think if I were ya’ll I would jump on any boat brand right now. Ranger, champion or in bankruptcy, triton has a lot of nasty rumours running around about being sold off. Too many boat companies in jeopardy and i would hate to be a new dealership with a floorplan of bankrupt boats on my lot. good luck to you
