So I went out this past Monday with my girlfriend and her dad in search of some redfish in the folly, no luck. We didn’t have any bites or see anything. After a very slow and boring start we decided to try out the sheepshead.
After deciding on the right spot we got hooked up and started to fish. Not 2 mins in my girlfriend gives out a slight cuss because she missed her fist hit. Well next cast down she didn’t miss and this is what she pulled up. This actually turned out to be her personal best.
After another hour or so of catching some small BSB and another smaller sheepshead, we decided to make a quick run to the dock and run her fish to the house and put him in the cooler for dinner later. We decided we wanted to go back out and try again for some more and just see what our luck would bring us.
We came back to around the same area and went to work again. Not 5 mins in and I had something big on the end. I fought him for around 4-5 mins between my reel having a freak out on me and the fish not wanting to get in the net. Finally we got him in the net and I think I had the biggest grin under my buff that I’ve ever had. This happened to be my personal best so far as well.
All in all a great day on the water, little chilly but it was worth it. On a side note, they tasted great!!!
