Will Monday the 17th be a safe day to head off shore in a 20 ft boat? Calling for 2 ft waves on sail flow.
Where are you looking to leave from ? I have a 21 center consul I’m looking to leave in the morning from dawhoo! Would like to have a buddy boat.
Wind is kicking up at the buoy around lunch time 17 to 18 mph. Stack those wind waves on top of your 2 foot swells. Not fun in a 20 foot boat.

Im seeing 2.2 feet at 8 seconds. If I was off, id go.

That’s what I’m seeing! The wind is a little higher than I would like. but I will peek my head out in the morning and see what’s going on.
No, no, no and hell no. That 15-20mph SSW winds gonna turn those 2’s to 5’s. The swell is the least of your worries, it’s the wind waves. I’ve said this 100 times on this boand. If you always stick to the <10mph wind days you’ll be much happier!

I’ll put it to you this way, I have a 30’ boat, 10.5’ beam and weigh over 10,000 pounds and I wouldn’t even consider going.

Reguardless what the forecast shows. PLEASE CHECK the 41004 buoy EVERY morning before you leave the house that tells the story at that time plus the steepest of the waves and windwaves. Cancel the trip if needed!!! Also on Sailflow watch for apposing winds to the water waves , that makes a huge difference. We went once that showed 2’ waves that beat to crap out of us(apposing winds, taught my a new lesson).Be careful out there, taking unnecessary risks can put you and your friends in danger. Remember you are in charge of your boat and respondable for the people on it period!!! Please don’t play around! You can always go another day!!!

Thanks guys. I’m new to reading wave height, seconds, and all that. I’m used to if the wind isn’t too bad you can go. But, on calm days it can still be 3-4 ft.
Too bad they don’t have the Navy Tower(M2R6 R7 R8) data anymore…you could know what’s coming toward you.
When this many folks say don’t do it…they just speaking from experience.
Even if you gets there, it sucks fishing in it…even in a 26 foot cat.
You get caught in bad seas…you’ll get some religion…and if you survive…respect for something that you can’t control.

So did anyone go?

I chose to gig In 15 mph winds instead. Lol But, we managed a few flounder, triple tails, sheeps, and limit on reds.
Yes we made it! One King, two Ajs, two Bonita! Ride out 20! Ride in 28! Forecast was right, about 2ft but choppy. No really good fish makes the itch that much worse. Lol
Good job creek monkey. I’ve always been told, you never know unless you go. But, I need to wait on a better day.
Thanks Ripnlips. I’m not gonna say it was the most comfortable day but it was definitely doable. Anytime you want a buddy boat just hit me up. We generally leave out of Dawhoo and run the north edisto out.
