Had the pleasure of rolling out deep with Rob and some new friends this past Monday on Robs new 26 sailfish. Forecast was for 1 foot seas and full fish boxes
Little bit of a wind chop on the way out but laid down really nice and was a gorgeous day out there. Hotter than all get out though. We rolled out to the south somewhere and did some looking around until Rob saw what he liked. First drop of the day with the ol flat fall jig I get bowed up with something huge on my 10000 gosa combo. Pretty quickly realize it’s a stud AJ. Everyone else is just laughing at my pain as I fight it on the bow… did I mention it was hot???
Got it to the boat finally and it was personal best for me. Estimating 85 pounds or so.
Full moon seemed to have lockjaw on the fish but around lunchtime the big snappers turned on. Several of our best friends the ARS but several nice mangroves as well!
Had fun with them for a good 30 minute spurt then it was time for Rob to do his thing. Over the side he went and came back with enough grouper and lobster to make everyone happy.
Great time out there with some really good dudes. Good eats this week at the house!
PS those Rhodan trolling motors are a game changer!
