Just got recovered enough to post. Gorgeous ocean on Monday minus a couple of spotty rain storms. Put lines in at about 150 and trolled out, got one nice wahoo on the troll and a couple of knockdowns on the center rigger and then it died off. Pushed out to 1,000 feet for a bit and nothing doing out there either. Made the call to run back in to 150 again and do some bottom bumping and ended up with some nice groceries. Bite started to turn on really well and then we heard the radio go off about a boat with a dead engine. After getting their coordinates they were only about 3 miles away so we pulled lines in and made the run over to them. While we were tying up to them a school of at least a hundred or so dolphin swam right up to the boat so we grabbed about six slingers to cap off the day for the long ride home. Going through Stono inlet at midnight is no joke and hats off the the guys running the boat, definitely glad I wasn’t on the wheel for that. Hit the dock at about 12:30am I believe. Great day fishing and glad the ocean was so flat for that tow.
wow y’all towed someone in from the ledge??? didn’t they have seatow or something?? that is mighty nice
It was definitely a long haul for sure but we were happy to help out. Hopefully banked some good karma on that one .

This used to be a common practice. It’s sort of sad that it’s not any more. The Tow Boat companies have given everyone an excuse to look the other way. You didn’t leave a fellow fisherman at the ledge 20 years ago.

Yella I agree. Always gotta help your fellow fisherman. Never know when you’re that guy instead.

What bot was it and what happened to make them loose power?
Fuel issue, was what they were thinking. Didn’t hear the final diagnosis but opening gas cap didn’t work as well as a few other things they tried.
