Saltwater Striper Fishing

Got on the water with my youngest grandson at 3:30. He wanted to drive the boat for a while, so I figured we would take a ride up to Big Hollow and fish up there, but the wind started picking up as we were heading up the lake and we made a detour into Bear Creek.

We pulled some FLs and PBs and had 2 decent keepers pretty quick. After that it was just a few more shorts. Didn’t really check the clock, but we probably didn’t catch a fish after the 1st hour of fishing and we stayed right up till dark.

The wind made things a little difficult pulling baits, but the temperature was perfect and all in all was a beautiful day on the lake.

Judging from the pictures and the big grins it looks like somebody had a great time!
That general area used to produce well for me up until a few weeks after Easter when I lived on the creek. Sometimes, back then, those fish would get extremely shallow, especially on calm days.

Love to see kids get excited about fishing. He’s gonna have a great story to tell his pals when he goes back to school.
