Monday Evening With White Caps!

I haven’t been out since Tims get together so I decided to try out the evening bite. I left the house around 6:00 and it was calm and sunny. As soon as I got to the bait shop the wind really picked up. I decided to just get a dozen herring and try it out. After launching the boat at the dam all I could see were white caps.

I went over to my spot and just decided to anchor up and try it anyways. I marked a lot of fish and bait. I was sitting in 77 feet of water and just had 4 lines out. One at 40, 50 60 and 70. At 7:30 I was changing out baits and the one at 60 took off. Ended up being a 26. Next one came at 8:15 at 50. the last one came at 8:45 at 50.

I decided that’s all the dinner I will need for awhile and just cruised back in to the dock. When I got back to the dock, there was a very LARGE snake right near the landing. I didn’t take time to check it out. All in all it was a good day. I guess the breeze was good to cool you off.

Thats what I want to see. Fish being marked on the bottom in 70’+…thats when its game on. I can not stand fishing suspended fish. When they are on the bottom its like catching them in a barrel…

White caps were pretty rough. All my fish were marked on the bottom in 55’ of water. When they showed up they were hugging the bottom, No real suspended fish that I marked.

This is my favorite time of year to fish. Either catch what you want before sunset, or come out after dark and have some midnight fun.
