Monday kayak with son

I usually wait until fall and winter to kayak fish, but I am planning on going out on Murray this Monday with my son. Where would be a good spot to go that would not require excessive paddling? I was thinking of putting in at the dam or on the south side at shull. I am just concerned that they may not be over there and would be closer to the towers.
Can anyone provide a little assistance/advice?

The fish were picky with our spread of eight herring down deep a few days ago. Picked at em down at about 50 ft in 150 ft of water near the towers. I usually anchor but you may be able to drift and cover a good area from the yak… dawn and dusk have been the best times. Hope that helps
