Took my brother out this morning. On the water at sunrise. Fished the big pool area. Drifted downods over humps and points on the Irmo side of the main river channel. 60 to 80 feet down. Boated four real nice fish and missed a few more. The breeze was pushing us a little bit faster than I would have liked which I feel affected the number of bites. I can’t complain though. Quality fish and plenty of meat for a couple of fish frys.
It looked like everyone else was having a good day too. I saw a lot of other boats catching fish.
We were off the water and headed home by 9am.
Jack, if you think you may not use them a whole lot and just want something cheap, you may want to look at these. As light as your boat is I would think this may be all you need. And I have seen them on the shelf at the Sandhills store.
Or you can be cheap and try some 5g buckets on a rope
Wellcraft V-20 sportfish with a 200 Evinrude
Just make sure you use a 1" hole saw to put 3 - 5 holes in the bottom of the buckets … plus, if you have the storage room they make great holders for other stuff when not in use …
Thanks for the suggestions. I have considered a drift sock but never seem to get around to buying one. I really need to get one especially since the breezy fall days will be here before we know it.
