Monday Murray report - took a kid fishing!

My bro and I hit the water yesterday with his daughter, olivia. This was going to be her first fishing experience ever! So we were all excited of course, and a little tense.

The day didn’t start off too well, Bait store #1 was closed on Monday’s in the winter (who knew?), Bait store #2 was out of herring, so we picked up 2 dozen shiners.

Got to the ramp, prepping the boat… oh s#*t, where’s the fish finder? That’s right… it’s in the back of my truck where it always is, but I didn’t pull the boat this time.

What else is in the back of my truck? the anchor, the rope and the lake map. :face_with_head_bandage:

either way…Olivia is ready to go!

So we tried to hit spots by our memory…ended up getting a few small strikes, no real pull downs for the first few hours. Here’s dad and daughter.

Then, nearing the end of the bait and the end of our trip, we saw a fish attractor and figured why not. we drifted around the buoy 3 times, and each of us caught a small fish, one on each pass. All 3 on a down rod about 30 ft.

Here is Olivia reeling in her first fish. (with a little help from her uncle)

And here it is! The best part of the day!!

and now that the bote is up here in Charlotte we’re going to find out about Lake Norman… we’ll try to remember everything this time…

Nice job ya’ll !

The more you fish, the better you lie.
