We had a pretty decent first day trolling for the year at the Blackjack Monday. Water was like a lake, hence the AJ’s steadily picking on our baits in the spread. My buddy Greg got his first marlin of his lifetime. I was proud to have been the leaderman for him. Fish were caught on my handtied seawitches with flash, and Ilanders.
steady 72-73 degrees all day long, sst shot showed a nice back current with a hard temp break but it eluded us all day. we would mark pods of amberjacks suspended at 170 feet and they would rise and hit the baits constantly. Tiring of this eventually, We stopped to jig AJ’s for a few hours and had swarms of a hundred AJ’s under the boat. This allowed us to hook up on jigs with the jacks as soon as we dropped almost.
Just a reminder, It is illegal to remove a billfish from the water to take pictures unless you are harvesting it. I could care less, but I recieved calls last year from law enforcement from some photos we had taken. They are cracking down so I thought I’d give you a heads up.
And its a white. The only distinguishable diff in whites and hatchets is the distance from the anus to the anal fin.

I would love to hear the details on this and what DNR said to you if you have the time… PM or post here.
Thanks.

I know my quads would never fit in those pants without a whole lot of lubrication.
