I had a good time fishing today with my good friend and former team mate Don Jackson. We fished from 9:30 to 2:30 above the Elbow for 5 good keepers and several shorts. We also had some break-offs. Don had not had his striper gear out in a while, and I think his line was buried too far in the spool when those fish would try to run. Oh well, it was great to get together for the first time in a while! Biggest was a little better than 8 pounds. Planers and corks. Also observed some guys catching on cutbait. Water temp. reached 63. Getting to be that time!
Yep. Might do some riding later this week and pull some of those spots. Also might throw some more rods and cb anchor in the boat and give the bottom a try.
Rick,
the fish were at pretty thick on the point you took steve and I last time he was here. They seemed to leave when the water took the last dip in temp. Might be there again now. I am surprised about 63* up lake, it was only 55 down by jakes/dam on Saturday night. I’m going to fish down low tonight and move up if it misses.
Tom, the water usually warms earlier uplake… Taking Diddy, my uncle, and cousin to Monticello tomorrow for some crappie and perch action. With the boys visiting grands Friday-Saturday, Mrs. Fog will be joining me for some Murray stripers on Saturday. It’ll be the first time since the ladies tournament. She truly enjoys it when she can get out in good weather:sunglasses:
Hey James, Tell your Diddy (Paw Paw) to catch a big bass on the spoon for me while he’s over there. I just can’t seem to convince my largemouth tournament partners just how many big bass can be caught on the spoons over there. I am pretty sure we missed the boat in our February tournament over there by fishing too shallow. Good luck and catch a bunch!
