Monday Stripers

Went out Monday armed only with fly rods(wish I had taken a spoon rod:frowning_face:) Only managed 5 stripers and a gar…water temps dropped. Been playing with my new(to me) 597ci HD DI. This unit is really cool. All fish ate a grey/white coyote “slow and low”.

With a sinking fly line and his homemade coyotes it pretty easy to get that deep i imagine, especially if they wanted it real slow…

Ever done it? I’ve done it all ways, that’s my choice. I don’t troll or fish minnows anymore.

Thanks

I tie flies and find fish and catch them, that’s my deal. I’ve fished boards and free lines and down rods. I like the challenge. I’ve sold my trolling gear and most of my bait rods.

Look up some “newer” fly lines…they all don’t float

Enjoy your bait and bucktails, hope you wear em out.

Thanks

Very impressive. The gar is nice too, IMO.

I have the utmost respect for someone who chooses the “road less traveled.” I’ve often thought about learning flycasting. Looks like great fun!

Fog,
Your post help a lot…I use them more than most. If you ever want to throw flies, I have a rod and plenty of flies for you to play around with.

I can’t wait to try it out myself. Had the boat in the water about 20 min since I installed it back at the begining of the year. I’ve been working a lot and I also use the winter to get all the stuff done around the house I put off during the rest of the year. We’ll get out there soon for sure. Let you know when I got it ready. Need to work on the trailer this weekend.

I wanna fish the cancer benefit tournament in March, so definately want to get out a time or 2 before then. It should be fun even though the meeting and weigh in is not at Hooters this year  They have such good food. lol
