Monday Trout

Decided to try some new places since the fish are biting pretty well. Looking for some spots a little closer to home at Edisto. Fished 4 or 5 good looking spots with nothing. Finally found some trout. Ended up with 11, 12-18". Kept 5 that are going into some grease once I post this. Once I caught a few on the TT I tried a bunch of different baits in the same area. Live shrimp, mud minnows, finger mullet, grub and mirrolure. Nothing. Back to the trout trick and kept catching until the tide got too high. Some poor guy running by saw me hooked up, turned around and set up right off my stern. Caught nothing and got to watch me catch one every other cast. Probably could have sold him one for $100. Went out off the beach to try for a big red but no luck. Caught 8 weakfish though.

nice. fishingwithbob would be pleased.

Some nice trout, we caught about 7 over a couple hours yesterday evening on the Ashley. There seem to be a TON of spotted sea trout in the Ashley this year, I’ve pulled out a couple reds but the trout seem to be outnumbering them.

Today’s conditions look fantastic. I saw a guy pull a beautiful flats boat into the public ramp under the rt 17 bridge this morning, had half a mind to call in sick, but they’d be on to me.

Nice job!

I heard fishingwithbob had some health issues a while back. I hope he is doing better.

Good looking fish, have to get me some!

Regarding Captain Bob, I would also be interested to hear how he is doing. Last summer while at Edisto someone told me he had sold (or was selling) his farm and moving to some place down in the deep south (Alabama, I think) due to continued health problems. I never met Captain Bob but he provided me some valuable fishing tips a couple of years about fishing around Edisto. He seemed like a really nice guy and I wish him well.
