Took one of my boys on Monday evening and got in about 1 hour fishing in the harbor. My son caught a whiting then a sting ray. A few minutes later on cut menhaden we caught our personal record bull red! 36"
Tuesday’s report from Tides4fishing basically said don’t bother getting on the water as their fish prediction was quite low. Well two of my boys and I got back out for 2 hours of fishing a caught a bluefish, 37" bull red and a 38" sharpnose. Our redfish record stood for only 24 hours.
I appreciate those of you with kind and helpful suggestions on this site. We’ve fished all over Charleston this summer and have worked hard at figuring things out. We’re beginning to slowly have a little more success and some of you guys have played a part in it. So, thanks. The boys have had their “best summer ever.”
We will, yes. His fillets are in the fridge now. We find marinating and grilling sharpnose to be very tasty.
What’s your marinade?
I used to eat them while fishing in the panhandle of florida. We’d tons of them about the size of my arm and they were great tasting on the grill. We caught one years ago in the CHS harbor that was a bigger heavier shark and it was much tougher and I had to choke down most of that fish. Haven’t kept one since.
*****Also, Capt. Steve Zissou is one of my favorite people.
We also fished Monday. I almost cancelled our trip Monday, but I’m glad we went. I also use Tides4Fishing. Combined with the weather forecast, Monday was looking like a no-go. Glad we went! Monday was outstanding! Nice catch, glad to see the kids getting their hands on some fish! Here’s my report: http://old.charlestonfishing.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=166010
