I have noticed a lot more colors available for monofilament available now in tackle shops. Why?? I never remember this many different colors from the past. I have always used clear for everything. Is red a better option for deep water fishing?
It really doesn’t matter. I have never seen one color catch more than another. I now use the brightest neon green/yellow I can find. Makes it easier to trace FL’s and PB’s.
That being said I used to run 6different colors on my reels that way if there was a tangle I could cut certain lines w/o cutting the one the fish was on. I would space them out so no 2 like colors where next to each other.

I ran cajun red vs clear trilene XL and had triple the hits on the clear. It was only one day but it was enough to make me never use it again. Maybe a fluke, but I’ll stick to clear

I wouldn’t think the color matters much unless you are using the same line for your leaders, since most people are using clear flouro for leaders these days.

I do not use flouro for the leaders. I usually use regular mono 12 lb clear.
When a fish’s instinct kicks in to bite, color of the line does not matter. The only thing that’s going to stop the bite is a legitimate reason to be spooked. The color of the line is not a threat and would require too much thought process for a fish to associate it with something unnatural. I use strictly high vis on everything even artificials. I don’t even mess with a clear leader.
I do not think it matters when they are biting the way they should. Just thought it weird that all of a sudden many neon colors were popping up.
You’ll know it just a way to sell more line! I have a buddy who wont use red line he said it backlashes to much! I like the different colors for ease of seeing witch line is witch on free liners and PB
As long as we use floro leaders I don’t think the fish care.
For braid on tossing lures, I get moss green.
For braid running bait, I get bright red or bright yellow (for visibility) (usually 50-85# braid). For catfish, for instance.
For tossing baits and lures for inshore trout/reds, I use either clear mono (preferred) or whatever is close. I like the color of the Momoi, kinda smoke-blue. Not as dark as moss green.
Moral judgment under girds the entire structure of laws and is necessary for the rational structure of any significant statute. The idea that our laws can stand independent of moral foundation is senseless.----- Albert Mohler.
