Monster hole is open for business

Only a few of you guys know the location and time to fish it, but wanted to let you know it’s on like Donkey Kong.

Fished for about an hour today. River was a nightmare; wind whipped waves and nonstop boat traffic. It seemed like every idiot with gas money was out for a joyride today. It also seemed like common sense was inversely proportional to boat size.

First fish to the boat in less than 5 minutes. 29 inches.

Followed up about 3 minutes later by a freight train. He started running toward structure and I put on the breaks… 30 pound Power Pro popped.:face_with_head_bandage:
A few minutes later I’m trying to keep from getting flipped by a wake off a 50 something foot sporty that went by at 3/4 throttle when another rod goes off. Drag set at 15 pounds and it’s peeling off drag, the rod tip is bowed into the water, and I’m just trying to stay in the yak. He ran off about 30 yards and did a figure 8 around the dock pilings, then POP at the leader. They don’t get big my being dumb.

Wind nad boat traffic picked up some more, so I bugged out looking for shelter. I hate leaving a good bite, but you’ve got to know when conditions get to bad to make fishing safe and enjoyable.

Nice report. How many rods do you fish at once?

Most of the time I fish 3. I have a Carolina rig out, a popping cork, and something tied on the 3rd rod. Depending on the time of day and time of year it could be a topwater plug, a shallow diver, a deep diver, a crankbait, or a grub on a jig head.
