More Flounder

It’s a good year. All caught on Finger mullet, 2 hours before dead low, until 1 hour afetr the tide started coming in, in the creek with a mud bottom.

That’s a skill right there, nice mess of fish you got.

Good Lord, that’s quite the catch!

Holy moly…

I wish you’d PM me on how to do that. I’ve only caught 1-2 flounder - by accident!

In my opinion targeting flounder is one of the easier fish to catch in charleston, gulp grubs, or anything gulp for that matter on a jig head slowly dragged across a creek mouth or grass pockets will produce flounder(muddy bottom) or pitch pockets at the jetties with gulp. There are other ways but thats how I catch’em

Pretty simple stuff. I make a double loop rig with about an 1/8 or 1/4 ounce (depending on wind/current)tear drop sinker on the end. Put 2 red circle or khale hooks on the loops. The purpose of the sinker on the end instead of at the beginning, is so when you drag it across the bottom, the bait comes by the flounder first, unlike a Carolina rig where the sinker would hit him first and cause them to move. I like finger mullet as opposed to mud minnows. They are more flashy. Just throw it out in very shallow water, bring it back slowly…like worm fishing for largemouth, and when you feel that hard “tap”, give him the line and at least 30 seconds then set the hook. Dead shell, and mud/sandy bottoms work well… I saw the big one actually leap out of the water on a school of finger mullet. Right now they are aggressive. Hope this helps.

Nice fish, you don’t see a rod caught haul like that much any more, by the way is that a F-150 EcoBoost?

Good Job, sir - - I’m looking forward to some big ones this fall, then I’ll follow them offshore to the barges come cold weather.
