I figured I’d post something. saw plenty of boats out, maybe yall will post later

so i headed to the inlet Saturday for another try. tried getting out to where I wanted, took 2 rollers over the bow, floated some gear in the boat, and decided it was in fact too rough to get out of the inlet.

plan b. back to inlet. luck into some big hadens. set up. 1 under float. 1 on bottom. wait 20 min. nothing. move, wait 5 min. bottom bait goes off. bi-catch. 44" spottailchannelbassdrum. stick rod in rodholder.

b*tch breaks my rod.

i was sure to hug her, stick my hands in her gills, roller her in the sand, and dry her out for 15 min. i learned that in the other threads

re-rig. post back up. 30 minutes. nothing. move. 3 sharks up to 4’. re-rig.

move. giant cownose ray. wider than my skiff. what’s the state record on these? I’ve seen two well over 30 lbs, > 40" wide.

I’m getting bored. catch some finger mullet. throw one of those in a little creek. more bi catch. stonecrab

so it’s another saturday, another tarpon fail. didn’t even see any this time.

I got this in the mail from Bonzo. i thought him sending me a catalogue for homo clothes was mean.

apparently the bass that size aren’t edible. that thing was nasty even blackened. both stonecrab claws were delish though.

That beats the heck out of sanding and painting a boat, which is what I did.

It had to be sloppy out there with that NE wind blowing.

Thats not your run of the mill walmart combo either.
Nice fish. Here’s a pro-tip. There’s something called “drag”. If you loosen it a bit, it won’t break the rod (!) :slight_smile:

Excellent handling of the redfish. Make sure to do a fourth down punt to release the fish. That way they dont come back and steal your bait.

“Broken rod” ==> Rookie… Heck, even skinneej can catch a redfish that big on light tackle without breaking a rod…

Peapod, you just gotta stay positive man! Stay positive! You’re not a loser because you can’t catch a tarpon. I mean, forget the fact that your hair is getting thinner, chicks have no interest in you, you’re burned out, you’re career is dead, all that pumping iron at the gym no longer has any effect, kids laugh at you, stuff is blurry, you’re feet hurt etc. etc.

Push the “Easy Button”. Red Drum and Spotted Seatrout. As you and I both know, anybody can catch them. Turn that frown upside down. Put a cork float on, bait it with anything…shrimp, chunk-o-mullet, broccoli, corn flake whatever. Be good to yourself.
