Morning Slop 1/20/2016

It was a nasty morning. Got to Remleys at 5:45, worked some kinks out on the boat and got to speed. Didn’t take long to have to throttle back to low RPMS and chug at 22-24mph. Tried for bait at the cans but no avail and wind/waves were too much. Had 40inchreds on the boat as well as a buddy who’s never fished offshore before. Spent 3 hours searching #s at first live bottom area catching every shark in the Atlantic Ocean before deciding to head to a nice 15’ ledge in 90’ of water and tore them up in the 45 minutes we had before we had to head in. Ended up with a limit of b-liners, 6 bsb, couple porgies and a few bank bass. When we neared the 17 bridge and USCG boarded our vessel, nice guys but annoying as I was well behind schedule. Got to the dock and our favorite NMFS agent proceeded to board the vessel and measured fish. Very cold but fantastic day and not bad for a 5 day old bait. Ran out 22-23 and in 35-40. Traveled 100mi burned 50gal.

Good catching, gentlemen! Congrats on a 1) safe and 2) successful trip.

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

Sent you a PM…

First I must say I am very grateful Floridaboy let me go with them and that him and his buddy where great to fish with and I had a great day, again thank you. Some things I took away from the day of fishing, the 25 game fish is a really big 25 with a great layout for comfort while fishing and it is very dry and stable, it is also way warmer 30 miles out then in Charleston, and some sore shoulders from all the action. Don’t let the pic of the mini seabass fool you, that was one of the only small ones, most where reel close to 13, and we caught a couple decent knot heads and some big vermilion, the bottom bite was as good as it gets at the last spot, many of times we hooked up before you could hit the bottom and plenty of 2 at a time on the double drop rigs, and triple hook ups where we all had fish on and at one point it looked like there was more fish on the screen then blank space. It was a great day and this was my first time heading offshore in the cold, below freezing temps and it was 28 leaving the harbor, oddly only my right big toe got cold, but it was a lot warmer once we got out there. If this inspires anyone else to head out in the cold I would recommend wearing a lot of layers and as much waterproof stuff as you can just in case, though we didn’t need the waterproof because the 25 game fish is very dry, but I could only imagine what wet toes would of felt like in the morning.

by any chance was this boat getting pulled by a bright orange truck down 544 yesterday??? jan 21 or jan 20th cause I think I seen its twin.

Yes. Yesterday it was being pulled by a bright orange MSC truck going in for 20 hour service and trailer failure over the weekend causing gel coat damage that they repaired for free. Also, last night got an awesome k-2 cooler in the mail with SH and Yamaha emblem on it from Sea Hunt. Sweet gift!
