Like most on here I’ve found low tide to be more productive.
These days low tide has been around noon which leads me to ask:
What have you guys found to be more productive?
- Early morning, high tide
- Mid-day, around low tide
I’m wondering mostly about harbor & jetties fishing, but would you answer differently for the creeks?
Bueller?..Bueller?..Bueller?
As with most fishing I find mornings and afternoon/evenings to be most productive, regardless of the tides. Not saying you wont catch fish in the middle of the day, because I have, I’m just saying I have better results when I am able to fishing mornings and or afternoons. Some places I fish do seem to be more productive on a particular incoming or outgoing tide though. Plenty of trial and error will help make those discoveries. Writing down daily info can help you to remember when and where. One of the biggest lies I have ever told myself is “I don’t need to write that down, I’ll remember it!” …should have written that down lol

Feeding activity for all species is just about always better in the early morning and late evening. People’s success inshore is better during low tide because the fish are more concentrated therefor easier to get a bait in front of, hence the reason why quarter moon tide weekends September-November are the most sought after long weekend vacation dates for fishermen as low tides fall in the morning and the fish are on the feed to put on weight for the winter. Full and new moon tides are tougher to locate the fish early in the morning, (redfish more than trout) but fishing will still be as good as it gets until the water drops below 50 degrees.
Thank you Stump & Rad. That makes a lot of sense and helps me out. I really appreciate the ■■■■■■■■.
Tides matter more than time for me…if that’s in the middle of the heat, so be it

What tides are you referencing per what species?

Here’s what I did this week in case this helps anyone. I went to the same spot in the harbor and used the same rigs and same bait. Fished about 2.5 hours each time.
Tuesday, low tide, middle of the day
Caught 3 small - medium bluefish
Friday, high tide, started at sunrise
Caught 3 bull reds & 2 sharks. 3 other large fish got off before & beside the boat.
So, at least for this week’s one-time experiment, sunrise produced more bites than low tide.
