heading to Orlando for the last weekend of July. Any of you got a recommendation for a charter captain in Mosquito Lagoon?
My son and I fished there April 2011 w/ Capt. Chris Meyers. He runs a heck of a service. He has a ton of presence on the web and in the area down there. Makes a lot of great informative fishing videos for his you tube channel (link below) and puts on clinics/lessons in a local tackle shop. He puts out a top notch news letter about 6 times a year and you can sign up to receive it via email on his web site below. I still get them.
He put us on the fish and the whole Mosquito Lagoon experience was awesome. We went for a full day, caught about 7~8 big reds and a bunch of trout. Could have caught more but we missed several. All released. I don’t remember for sure but he may only do catch and release. One thing to look out for is weather conditions. Light winds and clear sky are important for sight fishing but you can’t plan in advance for that.
Chris is a great captain and provides great service overall. He did seem to get a little impatient w/ us for not nailing our casts just right but that didn’t detract from the trip.
He also took great pics w/ his Nikon Digital SLR and emailed them to us.
