Was planning on hauling the skiff down there at some time this year maybe fallish as the temperature cools cause i would like to camp if possible to save on unneeded expenses. Just wondering if anyone knows some DIY tips, like best way to fish it? should i just get out there and fish it or hire a guide? where to stay? stuff like that, thanks guys
I would call Orlando Outfitters or New Smyrna Outfitters and ask. It is a tough place to catch fish. Very Beautiful but humbling also. There are islands to camp on if you have a boat. Guide one day is almost a must.

its very very shallow almost everywhere…id hire a guide but if your DIY’in…camp on #12 and fish behind it…also check out the docklights around oak hill…lightweight flies.
it will be the biggest trout youve ever seen and they are super spooky. but best of luck- stop by the shop and i’ll show you a few spots on a map…

Buy this Top Spot map: http://www.offshoremapping.com/productcart/pc/Top-Spot-Fishing-Map-N219-Mosquito-Lagoon-42p31.htm
It will give you spots, the time of the year, species, etc for a bunch of areas. It has served me well.
Just got back from trip down there.
Lots of black drum schooled up.
Throw black clousers at them.
Good luck.
