Mosquitos

Tried to put cameras out and had to quit after putting out 4. Dam things were swarming in my truck. It took hours to get them out while driving to Florida. Worst I have ever seen.

I am sitting on my dock in St Aug right now and the tarpon are chasing the mullet like crazy.
I still can’t get them to bite on my live mullet.

You need to carry a thermocell with you. Was in a ground blind once with the daughter and they were so thick you couldn’t stand them. Put the thermocell on the floor between us and in 5 minutes the burlap was black. They were trying to get out but couldn’t. Pushed the burlap out with the gun and it looked like a smoke cloud rolling out. Just doesn’t work on knats or no see ums.

I’ve seen mosquitoes worse in Alaska and Canada, but I believe this is as bad as I’ve seen them around Colleton County. We’ve had the county spray around here twice and it usually makes a big difference. Not this year. Crazy.

was going to 4 wheel some around the edisto river at my old hunt club on my way back from my new hunt club… stopped the truck and the squito’s were so thick on ALL the windows within seconds we didn’t get out

hunted that area for several years and have never seen it that bad, it’s thick!

opening day is going to be eye opening for those that haven’t been out yet, I think the deer with be more plentiful and larger this year just because there will be so many less hunters… lol

'bout time

Went to put stands up today and you were right. Stopped the truck and 43,000 mosquitoes by each window. Had to warm up the Thermocell before I stepped out.

Hunting, fishing, and poker are my sports. Work when necessary.

I bet you needed a dang canoe to get in the branch and hang those cameras! Water is high, Mosquitos are terrible, and there’s no relief in sight.

Guys you have to train them skeeters to help you out. While they draining you dry , they flying you to your deer stand. No atv or walking, skeeters doing all the work taking you to the stand.

Wolfman

Yesterday was good.
Today is great.
But living for tomorrow.

They were terrible during turkey season - with all this rain had to get worst. I hate to see opening day down on the Edisto. It’s been under water pretty much the whole month of July. Water is still over 12’.

Pro tip - bath in Repel before you leave the porch - next head net - then thermocell (pre-heated naturally) in your front shirt pocket. I don’t think you will be able to stand it any other way IMO.

I have never tried Thermocell while walking. Always in blind or stand.
Does it work walking???

yep, I always heat mine up before getting out of the truck because I hunt a lot of swamps where the squito’s are thick… just keep it where the wind blows it on you, sometimes I bring it almost up to my neck while I walk to keep the critters out of my eyes n ears

and Permethrin treated clothes

'bout time

I stalk a lot and keep it on my pack to the upwind side. also helps me know if the wind shifts on me.

With all of this rain we have had recently, they are going to be horrible!! I have never seen so much water on our club, I’m thinking of having a doctor come hunt with us so he can give blood transfusions between drives!! LOL
