Motor bogging down??

So my boat has been sitting in the sun for 3 weeks, I fill it up today with 10 gallons, tank holds 16 gallons total, so we run top speed mostly for like an hour plus no worries then on the way back all of a sudden the engine like slows down or gasps sorta , almost like a hicup, then regains stamina, then a few minutes again, then regains, back and forth. So then it like slows itself down to a stop and turn off. I turn key no problem up to top speed, then we are trying to make it home and then it over a bit does the same thing all over again. SO I tried to run off the gas as much as I could figuring it is the gas, water, or trash or something? I use Star-Tron Fuel Treatment every time, it is a 2 stroke 60 hrs yami. Thanks for any thoughts!

sounds to me like your on the right track, i would say fuel somewhere. Do you have a fuel/ water seperator? any inline fuel filters check for clogs.

well if I have filters or separators I don’t know about em, I am very novice with the ins and outs of boats as this is my first and I am learning, I know where the tank is, in the belly, other than that I am clueless?

If it swims throw a fly at it!

Mine did the same a while back and it was from a clogged fuel filter. The ethanol ate the inside of my fuel line and little brown pieces of plastic looking things clogged it completely. My filter was under the cowling in plain sight, but not sure about the yammi. I have also heard that they will power down if they start to overheat. Good luck.

Yea I had an over heat issue a year ago and they fixed it so I know the over heat alarm works quite well, if is clogged I gotta figure out where it is to see if that’s it right? Doesn’t sound like to big an issue but may need to take it somewhere?

Is it carburated? If so, you’re in luck.

At the risk of looking stupid i am almost certain that the engine has a carburetor, is that what you mean by is it carburated? If so why is that a positive thing in this instance?
