Motor guide Xi5 Reviews

Ok, need to purchase a new TM, Minn Kota always been good , however looking for any ■■■■■■■■ on the new Motor Guide Xi5, certainly are less money seems like.

Thanks in advance

I have an xi5 and love it. The remote is small and doesnt have all the extra stuff on it, its real easy to use and thats coming from someone who understands nothing about electronics. I have fished with people who have the minn kota and found that the xi5 puts out much less noise in the prop and in the turning of the machine head. I used to own a handle tiller motorguide and wil never go back to it after owning the xi5.

Thanks for your input knot Stressed.

I had dug around for ■■■■■■■■ on the Xi5 a couple months ago as well. I kept hearing that it had a more accurate spot lock than the ipilot. I believed the MK users who said theirs worked just fine and was very accurate. I bought a Ipilot. Eh, mine isn’t so accurate, or maybe I just haven’t fished any days that were decently calm winds. One gust of wind when in a creek and I’m 20-25’ off nearly in the mud and/or grass before it realizes it’s off and needs to go back to the coordinate. Then it runs hard to get back, passes the spot, turns around, swings the boat around…it can be quite frustrating. Not so bad when I’m by myself and can move around the entire boat. Very frustrating with 2 or 3 guys in the boat getting crossed up with the boat swinging every which way. No thanks, I’ll just use the Stick It whenever and wherever possible. Wish I could’ve seen them in action first and I may have just bought the Xi5. However, I also though I’d never need the screen on the remote…wrong! I’m constantly looking at it to see the motor speed and whether or not it’s actually running.

I fished yesterday and today all outgoing tide, which were 6’tides and when i say they were rolling out thats an under statement. I watched my XI5 and all day it held me with in five foot of the starting location. The only thing that threw it off was the cross wind. I love it and didnt need a screen to look at because we stayed where i put it.

For what it’s worth, I fish a 22 Pathfinder,Ttop & plastic with iPilot… I have spot locked in a 15 knot wind, fishing down rods at Murray and it holds me where I put it, that being said, as the wind increases to 20 or so it does struggle to maintain the spot…but who wants to fish in a 20 knot wind…time to find calmer water…
